Empowering Futures, Breaking Barriers: Bridging the Gap in STEM and Nursing Education for African Communities

About us

Breaking Barriers Foundation is committed to empowering first-generation African individuals in Washington to excel in STEM and Nursing education. Founded by Brenda Obonyo and Violet Parks, our organization is driven by a shared vision of breaking down barriers and creating opportunities for educational equity and access. Through mentorship programs, and community outreach initiatives and scholarships, we provide comprehensive support to individuals pursuing their dreams in STEM and Nursing fields.

Welcome to Breaking Barriers Foundation, where dreams become possibilities, and barriers become opportunities for growth and empowerment.

We are guided by our core values of equity, inclusion, integrity, and collaboration. These values shape our approach to education, mentorship, and advocacy, and drive our efforts to create a more equitable and inclusive society.
